Professional Background TEACHING AND RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR with Midwest Society for Trenchless Technology (MSTT), Bowling Green, OH

Planned, marketed, and coordinated trenchless technology symposiums in the Midwest states to educate the underground utilities communities about trenchless technology. Made many trenchless technology presentations of various trenchless topics. (April 02 to May 03)

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR with Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH

Taught construction estimating, construction scheduling, and construction computer applications courses. Developed and taught new course about trenchless technology construction. Developed and started a research project to evaluate the impact of pipe bursting on nearby utilities, structures, and pavement when the old pipe is laid in a rock trench (August 00 to present)

TEACHING ASSISTANT with Louisiana Tech University; Ruston, Louisiana.

Taught and assisted in teaching construction management and geotechnical engineering classes such as formwork, construction equipment selection and planning, cost estimating, contracts and specifications, planning and scheduling, soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and structural mechanics.

Coordinated several trenchless research projects with various industry partners; updated the microtunneling database for the US and Canada; answered industry inquiries related to pipe jacking, microtunneling, pipe bursting, etc.; researched the design and construction of microtunneling and pipe jacking operations; represented TTC in numerous technical conferences; researched the effect of pipe bursting on the nearby utilities, structures, and pavement; assisted in a CPAR research project with the Corps of Engineers regarding the ground movement associated with microtunneling; assisted in the guidelines report for pipeline rehabilitation; prepared the text and slides for NUCA’s (National Utility Contractors Association) educational seminars about trenchless technology; developed the prequalification system for Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and assisted in miscellaneous research projects. (Sep 90 - Sep 91 and Dec 93 – March 98).
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
PROJECT ENGINEER / MANAGER with Delta Construction Corporation; project engineering and management of various trenchless and traditional construction projects.

Prepared required submittals; analyzed and solved the multi-dimensional problems associated with the complex changes in the projects; liaison with the different consultants and suppliers to research potential solutions; communicated and negotiated with the owner and his various representatives; estimated the additional cost associated with differing site conditions and administered the contract to resolve potential disputes fairly and promptly. Administrated and coordinated the works of many subcontractors (Mar 98 – Aug 00).

HEAD OF PLANNING AND CONTROL UNIT with EPMC (Egyptian Project Management Consultant); residential towers, hotel, and shopping center; Cairo, Egypt.

Supervised seven engineers in: preparing time and resources schedules and cash flow forecasts during the proposal and construction phases; updating the engineering, procurement, and construction schedules during the construction phase; negotiation and coordination of more than 20 subcontractors; reporting the progress and critical issues for the client management’s action and decision; and administrating the subcontracts to assess variation and avoid potential claims (Dec 91 - Oct 93).

PLANNER/SCHEDULER with AMBRIC-American British Consultants (Black and Veatch/CDM /Binnie/Taylor); sewer lines, culverts, pump stations, and wastewater treatment plant; Cairo, Egypt.

Prepared and updated the schedules of the West Bank projects through coordination with resident engineers and contracts managers, reviewed interim statements, prepared cash flow reports, and produced the monthly progress report for management review, decision, and submittal to owner and funding agencies (Apr 89 - Aug 90).

GRADE I ENGINEER with AMBRIC-American British Consultants; 2.7 miles of 16 feet diameter tunnels, Cairo, Egypt.

Supervised the erection of a secondary tunnel lining of acid resistant brickwork and the construction of reinforced concrete manholes, pipe lines, and ancillary structures (May 88 - Mar 89).

UTILITIES ENGINEER with Weslur Constructors (Harrison Western/Fluor Constructors); 22 miles of large sewers, 20 feet below ground water table; Cairo, Egypt.

Prepared construction drawings for both submittal and site work, evaluated alternative solutions, planned construction sites and operations, designed shoring systems, took off quantities, procured subcontracts, and relocated utilities (Apr 86 - Nov 87).

SENIOR FIELD ENGINEER with Howard/Harbert/Sadelmi; construction and rehabilitation of wastewater pump stations, sewers, and force mains; Cairo, Egypt.

Performed various site duties in the construction of six main pump stations and their ancillary structures, installed deep and large diameter sewer lines below high ground water table, and ran the rebar shop and the pre-cast concrete unit (Jan 84 - Apr 86).

STRUCTURAL DESIGNER with Hamed Abu Awf Engineering Office, Cairo, Egypt.

Designed various residential and industrial projects (Jan 83 - Jan 84).
Research Interests My interests are in areas of construction management, trenchless technology, and geotechnical engineering. In construction management, my interests are in planning and scheduling, computer applications in construction, productivity improvement, resources management, temporary structures, construction equipment selection and planning, contract administration, claims analysis, cost estimating, financial management, and project feasibility. In geotechnical engineering, my interests are in soil mechanics, shoring structures, shallow and deep foundation design, and construction dewatering, etc. In trenchless technology, my interests are in tunneling, pipe jacking and microtunneling, pipe bursting, and pipeline rehabilitation.
