County Puts Off Runway Expansion Decision
September 25, 2002
After months of debate, Broward County commissioners on Tuesday agreed to postpone a decision on building a second major runway at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport for up to 90 days until a more thorough review of the controversial expansion can be conducted. The Federal Aviation Administration’s final environmental study was to be completed next month, but officials told the county Tuesday it won’t be finished until February, which county officials said gives them breathing room to assemble a team of legal and technical experts to complete their own review.
